Tattoo Aftercare

Now what?!

-Leave bandage on OVERNIGHT

-In the morning, wash hands FIRST (always) and then wash your tattoo. We recommend a LIQUID soap like Dr. Bronner's Castile Soap or Dial.

-Wash your brand new tattoo TWICE the first time, once to get all the goopy ointment and excess plasma off, and once after to clean it well.

*Plasma/goop will dry to form scabs. If you clean most of it off, it will tighten up and peel like a sunburn instead.

-Pat dry with a CLEAN towel or paper towel and let fully dry.

-After the second day apply a SMALL amount of UNSCENTED lotion, i.e. Curel, Cetaphil, Lubriderm. Wipe off any excess and don't overdo it over the course of the healing. Use only as needed. Do not use Neosporin!

-Keep new tattoos CLEAN, wash once daily. Keep dirty

hands/pets off.

-Keep new tattoos out of the sun.

-Showering is fine but do not submerge in standing water until fully healed (1-2 weeks). No swimming or hot tubs, etc. This can cause serious damage to your tattoo.

-DO NOT PICK/SCRATCH. Lotion helps with the itching and flaking. If it itches, slap it instead.

-ANY QUESTIONS at all can be answered happily in person at the shop or on the phone at (503) 265-8607
